The museum in the village of Tigheci, Leova district, was established on May 31, 1981, as an Ethnographic Museum. The museum operated as a branch of the museum in Leova. The museum has old relics from the fields of ethnography, archaeology, documents, photographs, cult objects, periodicals, weapons, furniture and old books.
In 1990, the museum was transferred to the management of the Tigheci Village Hall. Now the museum is located in an old building, a former manor house, which belonged to the nobleman Nichita Buiucliu, buried in the churchyard of the village. The building represents a historical value.
The museum is often visited by local school students, students from neighboring districts and villages. The museum has concluded partnerships with the Moldavan Post Office, the National Archaeological Agency, the museums in the cities of Leova, Comrat, Cimișlia, the "Lucian Blaga" High School in Iargara, the Baimaclia High School in the Cantemir district, the Tigheci High School.
