Museum of History and Ethnography Criuleni
The Criuleni Museum of History and Ethnography begins its founding history at the end of the 70s of the last century. The institution has gone through several reorganizations and relocations over time. In 2001, the opening ceremony of the museum took place in the current building. The museum has four exhibition halls, with various themes and various museum exhibits. The museum heritage counts 11 289 pieces of historical, artistic and cultural value: sculptures, paintings, sketches, graphics, old personal items, photo collections, ceramics, wicker works, agricultural inventory, weapons and armor, musical instruments, technology, furniture and so on.
One of the most valuable pieces is the triplet carpet, with the legend of the locality "Criul and Leana", woven from natural fibers by Domnica Cervaciuc, in 1984. Among the special values of the museum collection are three carpets with a historical, artistic and social value indisputable: "Eight turkeys", dated from the year 1700; another carpet, of the sisters Maria and Ana Caraman, from 1814, which has a very rich history, passed through several generations and worn during the deportation to Siberia, between 1949-1958; and the "Tree of Life", from 1797, woven by the nuns from the Varzaresti monastery, Nisporeni district.
Museum collections are full of relevance and originality. They come to constitute the image of the region from ancient times to the present day.
The Criuleni Museum of History and Ethnography is a veritable visiting card of the region as a whole, which should and deserves to be seen by everyone.
