Nisporeni Museum of History and Ethnography
Museum of History and Ethnography from Nisporeni, in its more than four decades of activity, has gone through several stages of development, having many exhibition spaces, including the Church of St. Archangels Michael and Gavriil, from the Upper Nisporeni region.
A new stage in the development of the museum institution began in April 2017, with the inauguration of the new headquarters in the premises of the „Luceafărul” Culture and Youth Center. The exhibition concept was created in a modern, open space, thanks to the contribution of the plastic artist Tudor Zbârnea, director of the National Art Museum of Moldova.
The location in the center of Nisporeni has increased visibility among both foreign tourists and locals. Thus, in the sense of developing and promoting local tourism, within the museum, in May 2022, the Nisporeni Regional Tourist Information Center was inaugurated.
Currently, the museum has a heritage of over 5000 exhibits, included in the collections: folk art, ethnography, archeology, numismatics, cult objects, science and technology, which are used in permanent and temporary exhibitions. They reflect the history and material culture, occupations and basic beliefs of the population of the Codri area. We can mention several heritage elements of particular value: archaeological objects from the Bronze Age; crucifixes carved with the image of Jesus Christ; memorial objects of the famous popular music performer, Maria Drăgan; black pottery, made by the master potter Zaharia Triboi, from the village of Ciorești.
