Regional Museum of History and Ethnography
The Regional Museum of History and Ethnography in Telenesti, located in a two-level building, built by the nobleman Teodosiu, in the middle of the 19 th century, has 3 sections: Heritage, Ethnography and History. In the nine large halls, the historical periods, through which the land has passed, are presented. Each room has a separate theme:
The "Peasant Inventory" room: various work tools from the past, from the Bessarabian peasant's household, are concentrated. Hand-made tools and objects related to the trades are present. Thanks to this collection, visitors can learn about the evolution of agriculture in the given region.
The "Camara" room: the objects placed in this room reproduce, approximately, the interior of the peasant dwelling, during the 60s-70s, of the 20 th century.
The "Casa mare" hall: articles are exhibited, according to tradition: different types of carpets and rugs, folk costumes, all handmade. Also, here is the chest with the girl's dowry. In the Casa Mare, the most important moments, rituals of the nation and of the village took place.
In the two rooms, through the present exhibits, the historical evolution of the Telenesti district, from antiquity, the Middle Ages, to the present, is illustrated. Old objects, collected from citizens, are exhibited here, such as telephones, cameras, gramophones, typewriters, etc. A separate section is dedicated to Dionisie Gulkin, former deputy in the State Duma, who addressed the issue of the right of Bessarabian Moldavians to study in their mother tongue. Photos and books from Dionisie Gulkin's personal archive are exhibited here. The museum also has a temporary exhibition hall, where, every 2-3 months, various temporary thematic exhibitions are organized: martisoare, folk craftsmen, things made of natural fibers, wood, osier, etc.
The museum also presents the history of sports, by exhibiting the photos of Moldovan athletes, who won medals at the Olympic Games; medals, cups and diplomas, won by athletes from Telenesti.
