The Selemet Village Museum is among the most important institutions in Selemet, both in terms of its heritage and scientific prestige. The museum operates in the edifice of the former school, built in 1900, and includes over 8,000 objects that characterize the life of the locals from ancient times. The founder of the village museum is Elena Televca, History teacher at the local school. The Selemet Museum presents to the public, in its exhibition halls, information about the material and spiritual life of the inhabitants of the village. The History Section evokes the development of the village from the second half of the 17th century to the present day.
The Ethnographic Complex, consisting of a model of a peasant's house, with the same oven, the weaving war, the carpets, the towels, the hemp cloths, the technical agricultural equipment, show the visitors the complexity of the material and spiritual experiences of this people. In the creation of the museum collection, documents discovered in the National Archive of Moldova, the District Archive, publications from periodicals, the memories of the elderly in the village were used. The museum objects were donated or offered for safekeeping by the inhabitants of the village. With the help of the children and the villagers, during the 30 years of the museum's existence, valuable pieces were collected for the history of the village, but also for the history of the Republic of Moldova.
Among the exhibits, traditional tools and household objects, collected from the households of the locals, predominate. Among the most valuable objects are several prayer books (1858), a traditional shirt, brought from Romania (1917), a traditional costume dating back over 100 years, wedding dresses (the oldest being from 1932), a men's costume (1932), plow (1928), yoke (1932), wine press (1946).
